Based on all the self-assessment tests, Ive come to realize that Im not as close to being a part of the real world work force just yet. The work environment requires its populace to possess strengths in various areas such as communication, teamwork, self-management, leadership, critical thinking, and professionalism. First and foremost I feel that my level of professionalism is still clouded by my immaturity. I lack exposure to such a quality only because Ive been in school and have not encountered a serious job option. In order for my professionalism to develop, I will need to expose myself to an environment where it is evident, somewhat similar to an observable culture.
Also through these tests, Ive learned that my critical thinking skills arent as sharp as I would like them to be. For awhile I was content with my knowledge of the world and saw myself as being ready for the adult life, however being challenged with college life and assessment tests, I realized that even when I have thought of every possible problem and solution to a situation another problem comes up unexpectedly. By keeping an open mind and listening for suggestions will help me resolve my omniscient complex.
Another area that I could work on as being a sponge of knowledge would be self-management. There are so many hours in the day, however I feel like it manages to run out on me, when assignments need to be turned in. Paying more attention to the time as well as when things are due can only benefit me in the long run because it will train me to plan ahead and make the proper arrangements to accommodate any type of situation.
Communication would definitely be an area where the most attention is needed. For the most part, I dont know how to express my thoughts on situations in a way where I capture my audience and convey my exact thoughts without losing its meaning. A solution to this problem would be to surround myself with people who know how to do articulate their words and present them to where the audience understands them clearly.
Teamwork and leadership are areas where I have the most strength. Not to put forth an arrogant image, however this is an area that I have the most experience in. Being in sports most of my life, I learned the right tools to work well with others and understand a persons habits. Being able to understand a persons habits helps me to determine how their strengths or weaknesses can be utilized. By being a chairman in a fraternity, this has taught me more leadership skills because I was in charge of organizing events for 40 -60 people at one time where food and entertainment was provided. Although I have played sports and part of a fraternity I feel that there is always room for development and improvement.
Each of my strengths and weaknesses found through these assessment tests and self-evaluation can be improved through experience and a proper environment whether it is surrounding myself with the right people or taking classes that are necessary or just keeping an open to mind to ideas and suggestions on improving my character.
